Zoe Heselton (UK/FR)
Zoe Heselton's romantic and poetic universe weaves threads back to her own roots in English lyricism as well as the contemporary scene for experimental French folk music, inspired by the avant-garde folk movement in Strasbourg, where she is now based.
Her activist and heartfelt poetry is a cry for justice and peace in a divided world, exploring themes of gender identity, spirituality, and religion. These themes manifest in small graphic expressions on her Instagram profile, in print, through spoken word performances, and most notably, in her songs.
Heselton’s songs and musical expression are both romantic and quintessentially British, yet shaped by an experimental new folk scene. They are often accompanied by wailing hurdy-gurdy, swirling violins, or layered choral harmonies. Her concert at Literaturhaus will be a solo performance—an intimate and present dive into her personal songbook, just as demonstrated on her debut release, Tell Them That You Love Them, which was released on Soleils Bleus in 2023.
We are proud to present the first performance on Danish soil featuring Zoe Heselton’s poetry, songs, and electric presence.
Spost (DK)
The increasingly legendary project and improvisational collective Spost, with Jonas Okholm’s chaotic and rambling free poetry at its core, is a rare presence on Copenhagen’s stages—and one you absolutely must not miss.
It has now been nearly 15 years since Spost first made itself heard, having formed at Mayhem, Copenhagen’s venue for experimental music. Despite their hard-to-define sound, they have made a name for themselves as a mesmerizing live band, known for their hypnotic, sprawling, and raucous improvisations, where poet Jonas Okholm’s humorous and whimsical lyricism takes center stage, carried by a slowly circling and swaying accompaniment.
They have released the full-length albums Monkey Face and Masterpiece, along with an overwhelming number of singles as online releases across various platforms. Chaotic, unpredictable, yet deeply fascinating and captivating—just like everything else about Spost.
The concert is supported by Nørrebro Lokaludvalg – Thanks a lot ♡
